SACRAMENTO - The amount employers in the U.S. spend on formal training for their employees is rising, but has not kept pace with the rising number of workers, the American Society of Training and Development in Alexandria, Virginia, says.ASTD said that employers in 1995 spent $55.3 billion on training, $26.4 billion on direct costs and $28.9 billion on indirect costs including wages, salaries and fringe benefits.
