Feds Expand Cooperative Compliance Programs

BERKELEY - Labor Secretary Alexis Herman has announced that OSHA will expand its Cooperative Compliance Program (CCP) to 12,250 employers across the nation. The CCP is modeled after the Maine 200 program that focused on the 200 companies in Maine with the highest workers' compensation rates and, OSHA says, helped 70 percent of them to reduce serious injuries.CCPs are voluntary, but employers who join up by committing to the program criteria are much less likely to face an OSHA inspection.
