ABRASIVE WHEELS - GUARDING
CAL. CODE REGS, tit. 8, 3577(b) (2000) - Employer's unguarded grinder, a violation that was not appealed, presented a hazard that the abrasive wheel, if it exploded, could cause serious physical harm or death. The violation was in plain view. The serious classification of the violation was appropriate. However, because there was only one grinder in violative condition, and only one employee exposed to the hazard, the penalty, as proposed, was unreasonable. It was reduced to an appropriate level.
