Last-Minute Maneuvers Save OSHA – and Workers’ Comp Fraud Units in L.a.

SAN FRANCISCO - The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on April 12 agreed to increase District Attorney Gil Garcetti's budget by $3.8 million, ending his threat to disband divisions that prosecute major fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud and worker safety violations, at least through the 1994-95 fiscal year. According to the Los Angeles Times, Garcetti in turn promised to live within whatever budget the board adopts for the next fiscal year, as long as it is not below his current allocation
