California’s Indoor Smoking Ban Is Now Law

SAN FRANCISCO - The League of California Cities is distributing a guide to understanding AB 13, the 1994 law that prohibits smoking in enclosed places of employment. The new law applies to restaurants but not bars. It contains exceptions for 14 specified areas, although existing stronger local ordinances can remain in effect.Among the 14 areas that are not covered by the 100% smoking prohibition are hotel/motel guest rooms (65% may be set aside for smokers unless there is a stricter local ordinance);
