$21 Million Award for Worker’s Fall

SAN DIEGO -- A San Mateo County jury has awarded a construction worker $21 million for injuries suffered in a 2001 fall at a construction site near Bay Meadows Racetrack.Jason England was installing steel decking when he fell 13 feet through a hole, severing his spinal cord. He is paralyzed from the waist down.The jury decided that general contractor Swinerton Builders and SME Steel Construction were responsible for the accident.
