Board Denies Winch Petition

SACRAMENTO -- The Cal/OSH Standards Board denied a petition at its May 20 meeting from two truckers who sought to have truck winches redesigned. It also granted a variance to a Southern California utility on live-line barehand techniques for workers.The petitioners, Daryl Im and Paul Taber, requested that the board amend Title 8 to require that truck winches be designed and constructed with rectangular or square holes in the spool or drum to prevent slipping hazards.Current winches are designed w
