FRESNO - Investigators believe a pipe flange from which fuel escaped was the source of a gas explosion and fire at the Mobil refinery in Torrance the afternoon of October 19. Twenty-eight workers were injured, according to The Los Angeles Times, and seven were still hospitalized two days later, most with burns or inhalation injuries.
