The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is reporting that half of all highway and street work-zone accidents causing death or injury to road crews are related to incidents within the work zones themselves, and not caused by passing motorists.NIOSH published the findings in a new report, "Building Safer Highway Work Zones." The report outlines measures to build on current safeguards and better protect workers from serious injury or death.
