OAKLAND -- The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has withdrawn four proposed safety standards for shipyard employment, saying it intends to concentrate on "higher priority" shipyard standards.The proposed rules covering scaffolds, welding, cutting and heating, access and egress, and fall protection, were promulgated in November 1988, near the end of the Reagan administration.
