SACRAMENTO - AB 969 (Cardenas), a two-year bill that is undergoing revision, is sponsored by the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Kevin Schunke at BORPE told COR that, on July 18, the board voted to amend the bill to deregulate (eliminate) four titles, including that of safety engineer. He explained that the four---quality, safety, traffic, corrosion---are special titles not recognized in any other state. Therefore, the P.E. Rewrite bill will be amended to delete those four titles.
