Standards Board Adopts Needlestick Regs

SACRAMENTO -- The Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board unanimously adopted at its Dec. 17 meeting in the state capital emergency regulations aimed at protecting healthcare workers from bloodborne pathogens transmitted by way of needlesticks.The emergency regulation, 5193, takes effect Jan. 15, after filing with the California Secretary of State.
