Standards Board Proceeding with Falling-Objects Rulemaking

SACRAMENTO -- After a delay of close to two years, rulemaking activity is proceeding on a proposal intended to protect workers from the dangers of falling objects.Conrad Tolson, a Cal/OSH Standards Board senior engineer and chairman of an advisory committee convened to develop a proposal, has submitted language based on a consensus reached by the committee when it last met in May 2000.The proposal would revise Construction Safety Orders (CSO) 1513(g) and General Industry Safety Orders (GISO) 3273.
