FALL PROTECTION - WORK FROM ELEVATED LOCATIONS
CAL. CODE REGS, tit. 8, § 1669(a) (2003) - A subcontractor's employee fell 20 feet from the top edge of an earth wall on a highway overpass construction site. He was not protected by any fall protection system. Employer, the general contractor, had the authority to correct the hazardous condition but did not do so. Furthermore, it did not exercise reasonable diligence to detect the violative condition, so the serious violation was properly classified.
