CRANES - SECURING SUSPENDED LOADS
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 4999(h)(1) (2004) - The Appeals Board reversed the ALJ's decision regarding a load momentarily suspended while the crane operator awaited instructions to make adjustments. A smaller crane was used to lift into place the jib of a tower crane being assembled. The safety order requires securing a load that is to be suspended for a "considerable time," but this load was not intended to be suspended for any length of time, just until it was lined up and fastened in place on the tower crane.
