Abatement Incentives and Other News – From Fed-OSHA

SACRAMENTO - QUICK FIX EQUALS LOWER PENALTIES: On September 1, employers who correct workplace safety and health hazards immediately during a Fed-OSHA inspection may receive an 15% penalty reduction. To encourage employers to react quickly, OSHA intends to reward them; it says the 15% reduction will be automatic.The abatement incentive program will affect any size employer in any industry and applies to both safety and health violations, but only corrective action that is permanent and substantial
