Appeals Board Reverses Itself on Fall Protection for Warehouse Projects

The Cal/OSH Appeals Board has reversed its 1997 holding that Construction Safety Orders (CSO) 1710(h), which sets a 30-foot trigger height for fall protection in large, open-span buildings, does not apply to warehouses under construction.The board now states that the list of examples of open span buildings contained in the safety order is not definitive, and that there is no meaningful distinction between the samples in the list and warehouses.
