Breakthrough on Hand-Weeding Proposal – Labor Agency Gets Consensus

State Senate Bill 534, crafted to address the practice of hand weeding in agriculture, has been in the chamber's inactive file since last year, after it failed passage in the Legislature but was granted reconsideration in case administrative solutions to the issue failed. The bill now will become irrelevant, after intercession by the state Labor and Workforce Development Agency has produced a consensus on changes to General Industry Safety Orders 3456.
