BERKELEY - An article in Engineering News-Record reports that a review released March 27 by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials provides the first outside look at BuREC's safety effort since 1977. BuREC is responsible for 475 dikes and dams, including 382 "high or significant hazard dams." About half of those dams were built between 1900 and 1950.
