Cal/OSHA Conveying Advisory Committee – on Changes to Crane Operator Certification

The Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board is convening an ad hoc advisory committee in early May to discuss proposed changes to General Industry Safety Order 5006, Crane Operators Certification.The safety order states that only employees authorized by an employer and trained or known to be qualified in safe construction crane operation or hoisting apparatus shall be permitted to operate such equipment. The regulation is silent on how operators are determined to be qualified.
