Commission Hears From H&s Grant Applicants but Takes No Votes

LOS ANGELES - Because the duties of the new Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation are extensive, there will be less money available for grants to help establish effective occupational injury and illness prevention programs this year. Ninety-one applicants have requested $5.5 million. Interim Executive Officer Christine Baker told COR the commissioners decided to award the already budgeted sum of $501,000 plus $200,000 in new grant money.
