SACRAMENTO - The dangers of working in confined spaces were illustrated vividly by three recent accidents. On August 1 in Los Angeles two Japanese nationals were critically burned in a flash fire while they were inside a tank applying a sealant. Cal-OSHA has concluded its investigation of that accident and issued citations. (See separate story.)On September 7 in Nipomo, two Timec employees died in an explosion at the Unocal sulfur recovery unit. Cal-OSHA has a process safety team investigating it.
