Construction Workers and Aching Backs

SAN FRANCISCO - Researchers at the University of Iowa sent surveys to 7,000 construction workers through their local unions, asking how often in the past year they missed work because of a back problem or shoulder pain.Some 2,078 surveys were returned. Respondents averaged about 19 years at a trade. Almost 72% of them said they had job-related lower back problems in the past year.
