DOSH Eyes Emergency Regulation to Aid Health Care Organizations on – Respiratory Protection Requirements

The Division of Occupational Safety and Health has announced that it will seek emergency revisions to General Industry Safety Orders 5144 to help health care organizations comply with recently adopted changes on respiratory protection from tuberculosis exposure. The proposal would require that employers ensure "higher risk" health care employees comply with an Oct. 18, 2004, deadline for fit-testing of respirators.
