Fed-OSHA Steel Erection Rule to Go into Effect – with a Six-Month Delay

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced that the revised steel erection standard published two days before the end of the Clinton administration will go into effect as written but with a new effective date. The rule, which was the first national safety standard crafted under the Negotiated Rulemaking Act of 1990, was scheduled to take effect July 18, 2001. Instead, it will be effective Jan.
