SACRAMENTO -- The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration - under court order - has proposed rulemaking to significantly lower the permissible exposure limit (PEL) on hexavalent chromium for certain industries.The agency proposes lowering the PEL for hexavalent chromium and all Cr(V1) compounds in construction, shipyards and general industry from 52 micrograms to 1 microgram per cubic meter of air as an eight-hour time-weighted average.The proposal also includes revisions on exposure
