SACRAMENTO - The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) announced that Mobil Oil Corp. had been given an award for an "exemplary hazardous waste reduction program of a manufacturer in California." At its Torrance refinery the corporation accomplished record reductions with a 97% decrease in waste to landfills and a 69% increase in recycling waste, from less than 1% in 1989 to 70% in 1993.
