Protecting Against Avian Flu

LAKE ARROWHEAD -- The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued a guidance document on how to protect workers from avian flu.Although the disease has not been reported in humans in the United States, there have been infections in Thailand and Vietnam, OSHA noted. Avian flu has resulted in the destruction of 25 million birds in Asia.In February several strains of the flu were detected in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Texas and hundreds of thousands of bird subsequently were killed.
