“Riding on Loads” Proposal Terminated

SACRAMENTO -- The Cal/OSH Standards Board's staff has terminated a rulemaking initiative that would have prohibited construction workers from traversing beams bolted on one end but supported on the other by cranes. The proposal was heard at the Nov. 15, 2001, Standards Board meeting and generated considerable comment from the construction industry.The proposal stemmed from an appeal granted to California Erectors, of Benicia, from a citation issued for alleged violations of Construction Safety Order
