Some Welds in Collapsed Bay Bridge Scaffold Said to Be Defective

Preliminary tests on a scaffold that collapsed on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge retrofit project indicate that some of the welds on the device were defective and others were of poor quality.As a result, the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), which ordered the tests, has amended its Order Prohibiting Use (OPU) in the wake of the fatal incident to include seven other half sections of the 1275-3 Interior Truss Platforms, manufactured by Beeche Systems Corp.Cora G
