Standards Board Grants One Variance, Postpones Five Others

At its June 19 meeting in Sacramento, the Cal/OSH Standards Board adopted a shortened variance consent calendar. The board removed five items at the request of member Art Murray, who was not able to attend the meeting. The board will vote on the items at its July 17 meeting in Los Angeles. The lone variance it granted:Irvine Apartment Communities, San Jose: Permanent variance from Elevator Safety Orders 3137 regarding seismic requirements for two elevator machine rooms at two locations
