Static Charges & Gas Fires

SACRAMENTO -- (Editor's note: In our June 6 story "Static Charge Causes Gas Station Fire" (p. 8014), Petaluma Fire Marshal Michael Ginn stated that one of the factors in such fires is the volume of gasoline that is pumped into a gas can. "The throughput has to be greater than four gallons," he said, which is enough to build up static.
