LAB. 6302(h) (2000) - An employee's "mangled" arm constituted a serious injury within the meaning of the Labor Code definition. The serious classification was appropriate and the penalty reassessed.

The penalty proposed by the Division was appropriate for the serious-injury-related violation, not the reduced penalty assessed by the ALJ.
