TANK STORAGE - ATMOSPHERIC TANKS CONTAINING CLASS IIIB LIQUID
CAL. CODE REGS, tit. 8, 5585.1 (2001) - Employer's atmospheric tank which contained liquid asphalt, a Class IIIB liquid, was heated by an internal heating coil. It was equipped with a temperature regulating system, but the system did not automatically shut off the heat source to the tank before the asphalt reached its ignition temperature, resulting in an explosion. A serious violation was established.
