CYLINDERS - SALVAGE OR DESTRUCTION
CAL. CODE REGS, tit. 8, § 3306 (2002) - The Appeals Board agreed with the ALJ that a serious violation was established when an employee was directed to cut up cylinders that had not been properly prepared for salvage by opening and purging them. That the fatally-injured employee drilled into the wrong cylinder, one that was still sealed, was not a defense to the violation, since none of the cylinders was adequately prepared and the markings distinguishing them were difficult to discern.
