West Nile virus has struck two residents of Tulare and Riverside counties, the first human cases of 2005. The mosquito-borne disease has also killed hundreds of birds this year in California.In 2004, West Nile resulted in 28 human deaths here among 830 cases, and 88 deaths nationally out of almost 2,500 cases.
