University of California, San Francisco, audiologist Robert Sweetow and a fellow researcher were relaxing at restaurant after measuring sound levels at a local movie theater for a study on recreational noise exposure, when they made an unanticipated discovery.Once inside one of San Francisco's trendy restaurants, "we quickly realized that the noise levels in these restaurants can be even more intense than those in movie theaters," Sweetow wrote in the May issue of Audiology Today.So
