Standards Board Adopts Needlestick Reg, With Protest

OAKLAND -- The Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board adopted landmark amendments June 18 to California's regulations protecting health-care workers from exposure to bloodborne pathogens.But it was clear from the tenor of the board's comments during its meeting at the State Building here that the standard, which revises General Industry Safety Order 5193, is not yet a finished product.
