MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT - DE-ENERGIZING OR LOCKING OUT DURING CLEANING

CAL. CODE REGS, tit. 8, 3314(a) (2001) - An employee injured by a rotating drill bit had been clearing metal chips and shavings from the table, and from the base and trough behind and beside the drill. This constituted cleaning as the term is used in the safety order. The machine was not de-energized at the time.
