SCAFFOLDS – ERECTION AND DISMANTLING UNDER SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION OF QUALIFIED PERSON
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 1637(k)(1) (2013) – An employee at a multi-employer jobsite was exposed to the hazard of a scaffold around a two-story building that was not erected under the supervision and direction of a qualified person. Employer was properly cited as a controlling employer.
SCAFFOLDS – GUARDRAILS INSTALLED BEFORE OTHER WORK PERMITTED TO BEGIN
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 1637(k)(6) (2013) – An employee at a multi-employer jobsite was assigned work before installation of a scaffold with guardrails. Employer was properly cited as a controlling employer.
METAL SCAFFOLDS – PLATFORM PLANKS
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 1644(a)(7) (2013) – Employer failed to ensure that the inboard edge of a scaffold’s work platform was less than 16 inches from the building. Employer was properly cited as a controlling employer.
FALL PROTECTION – PERSONAL FALL ARREST SYSTEMS, PERSONAL FALL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS AND POSITIONING DEVICES
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 1670(a) (2013) – The Division established a violation where an employee at a multi-employer jobsite was assigned to seal the gutters on the leading edge of the roof of a two-story in excess of 7 ½ feet without fall protection. Employer was properly cited as a controlling employer.
