HAULAGE AND EARTH MOVING – HAULAGE VEHICLE OPERATION, POSITIVE CONTROL
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 1593(b) (2016) – Employer failed to ensure that a haulage vehicle was kept under positive control during all periods of operation. An employee parked the truck, failed to set the parking brake, left the engine running, and exited the vehicle, exposing other employees to the hazard of a runaway truck.

Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 1593(h) (2016) – Employer failed to ensure that the parking brake of a haulage vehicle was set when the vehicle was parked. Employer further failed to ensure that the vehicle, which was parked on an incline, had its wheels chocked and the parking brake set, or otherwise was prevented from moving, by effective mechanical means.
