CRANES AND OTHER HOISTING EQUIPMENT – DEFECTIVE HOIST OR SLING HOOKS AND RINGS
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 5049(d) (2015) – The proposed penalty, for failure to use hooks with safety latches provided by the manufacturer, was reasonable.
CRANES AND OTHER HOISTING EQUIPMENT – ATTACHING THE LOAD
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 4999(c)(1) (2015) – Employer failed to attach a load to a hook by means of either slings or other suitable and effective means to insure safe handling of the load.
CRANES AND OTHER HOISTING EQUIPMENT – MOVING THE LOAD
Cal. Code Regs, tit. 8, § 4999(d)(2) (2015) – The load was not well secured or properly balanced before it was lifted. However, the hazards addressed in the cited violations of §§4999(c)(1) and 4999(d)(2) pertain to a single hazard. As a result, no penalty was assessed for the latter violation.
