Petroleum Handling and Refining, Static Electricity on Tank Trucks [6775]. The appeal was denied from five of 18 alleged nonserious violations carrying an aggregate penalty of $400.
Appellant operated a bulk delivery station on South Broadway in Los Angeles. Tank trucks were loaded with gasoline and diesel fuels. Static electricity is produced when gasoline is pumped into a tank, and can spark unless drawn off and grounded. Appellant was cited for failing to use grounding straps for both the truck tank and a trailer tank on a tandem rig.
